Children's Homes

Care

Children’s homes often encounter the most challenging and most in-need young people within the social care sector. It often means that working in a residential provision can feel like the most rewarding and at times the most challenging setting all at once.

In understanding this, we provide a tailored approach to supporting the team, child and organisation. Within care homes, we seek to develop a therapeutic approach of the team that directly surrounds and supports the child.

We aim to develop the skills of the team through:

  • Training

  • Consultation

  • Supervision

Aiming to ensure that they have the skills required to carry out their role efficiently and effectively. Offering support to the child and their wrap-around to ensure that they have the best possible opportunities to grow and develop in the future while being heard and understood now.

To do this, we offer a range of services including;

  • Therapeutic parenting

  • Understanding trauma and attachment

  • Self-harm

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • ADHD

  • ASD

Consultation

We know that behaviour is a very small expression of what is happening psychologically. So, it is through the process of consultation that we facilitate therapeutic knowledge and reflective practice.

The team at Psychology Talks provide guidance and support to individuals and the team this is underpinned by psychological therapy until they feel confident in understanding the need that the behaviour is communication. So that they feel confident and happy in how they respond to it.

Assessment
We offer a variety of assessments to support the school and the family in understanding the individual needs of the child. This can then be used to develop a support plan that wrap around the child, this ensures that they have the structures in place to give them the opportunity to access further help and receive the support that they deserve.

Therapy
The team at Psychology Talks offers individual and group therapy to education staff, children and family. We use contemporary approaches to therapy to develop the clients’ resilience and understanding of their difficulties and help the world feel more manageable.
